PW PURPOSE
Forgiven and freed by God in
Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit,
we commit ourselves
- to nurture our faith
through prayer and Bible study,
- to support the mission
of the church worldwide,
- to work for justice and
peace,
- and to build an
inclusive, caring community of women that
strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
and witnesses to the promise of God’s
kingdom.
MISSIONARY SOCIETY
WOMEN'S GROUP
The Missionary Society was organized August 4,
1880 at the Union Church. Mrs. Margaret Yager
was the first president and Mrs. Emma Duncan,
Secretary. In 1881 a Thanksgiving Supper was
held in one of the members homes. Since that
time this has been an annual feature of the
community. In the session records of 1882 is
this entry, "The ladies missionary society was
considered and words of cheer given and the
necessity of encouraging the women." Today ther
group meets monthly for fellowship, Bible study
and pursuring missionary projects.
MARY-MARTHA WOMEN'S
GROUP
The Mary-Martha missionary
circle has been doing mission work for 35 years.
We support local, national, and world mission. On
the third Friday of the month we gather at
members homes for bible study.
We serve our church by helping with
funeral dinners, special celebrations and
projects.
We go each month to the
Homestead
assisted living for a time of devotions and
singing.
A rich and full life is available for all
who believe in and serve Jesus Christ.
