HOW LONG
I was called to Auburn Presbyterian Church in
June, 2008. Prior to this call, I served
as the Pastor of St. Paul’s in
Needville,
TX. Before that I was an associate pastor
at St. Mark’s United Methodist
Church in Baytown ,TX.
Before serving in Baytown, I was a home
missionary and hospice chaplain in Corpus
Christi, TX
for
the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. I
was ordained in December of 1999.
FAMILY
I have been married to Lori for over 16 years
now (which tells you what a wonderfully patient
woman she is). We have two children, Sarah, who
is 15, and an unknown baby girl who is currently
living in China. God is preparing her to
join our family and we hope to go to China to
pick her up soon. Waiting through the
adoption process is hard but we know that God is
watching over her.
We
also have a Papillion dog, 'Tag-your-it' (a name
that he came with).
Sarah has a dachshund named Gidget. To
round out our family we have two cats, Caramel
Candy (Sarah’s cat) and Snickers (my cat).
EDUCATION
I graduated from the
Ottawa
University with a B.A. in management of community based organizations.
I then pursued a seminary education at
Trinity
Evangelical Divinity School
in Deerfield,
IL
(just outside Chicago). I finished my
seminary in 1998 when I received the Master of
Divinity, graduating with honors.
In my master’s program I majored in Bio-medical
ethics.
FAVORITE QUOTES
"'Child,' said Aslan, 'did I not explain to you
once before that no one is ever told what
would have happened?” The Voyage of the Dawn
Treader, by C.S. Lewis.
"To
pardon one sin is a greater thing than to create
a world; to pardon one sin is greater than to
damn a world. God can create a world without the
death of a creature; he can damn a world without
the death of a creator; but in pardoning there
must be the death of the creator, the Son of
God." 'A Discourse of the Pardon of Sin', by Stephen Charnock.
BOOKS ON MY NIGHTSTAND
Currently, I am reading
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson and
The World is Flat:
A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century
by
Thomas L. Friedman.
Also,
I am going through a number of religious
journals and commentaries about Leviticus.
In truth, I have a whole stack of books on my
nightstand that I want to read.
